Castle-Tower-Nationalpark
The Castle Tower National Park (English: Castle Tower National Park ) is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland.
Location
It is located 407 km north-west of Brisbane and 30 kilometers south of Gladstone.
Landforms
In the National Park there are many mountains, such as Mount Castle Tower, Mount Stanley and Mount Coulston. In the northwest of the reservoir Lake Awoonga connects.
Flora
The hill country is dry rainforest covered ( along the ridges ) ( in the valleys and along watercourses ) and sparse eucalyptus forest. Heath plants form the undergrowth, among others the endemic Byfield Spider - Grevillee ( Grevillea venusta ), a threatened extinction of plant species. The park is located at the southern distribution limit of the White Gum (Eucalyptus platyphylla ).
Facilities
Wild camping in the park is allowed, but requires a ( paid ) individual license. Campsites and trails do not exist.
Access
The national park is not accessible by vehicles and is surrounded entirely by private land. It can be hiked ( with the permission of the landowner ) from the Bruce Highway or from the link Calliope Monto. About the Lake Awoonga it is also accessible by boat ( only with the permission of the Gladstone Area Water Board ( GAWB ) ).
