Homevale-Nationalpark

The Homevale National Park (English: Homevale National Park ) is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland.

Location

It is located 821 km north-west of Brisbane and 65 km west of Mackay.

From the Peak Downs Highway, turn 6 km north of Nebo, taking the road towards Elphinstone / Glenden. After another 11 km to the north, the branches Turrawulla Road, which leads into the National Park.

In the neighborhood of the Eungella National Park, Bluff Hill, Mount Martin and Dipperu lie.

Provincial nature

Ago 30 million years ago volcanic eruptions covered older basalt layers with fresh lava. Over time, these new eroded basalt layers and result were the prominent rock pyramids, sharp rocky ridges and protruding rock steps of the Denham Range and Mount Britton. In these mountains, which are part of the Bowen Basin - by the Bowen River flows - you can also find gold deposits. Also fossil remains from the Permian ( 225-280 million years old ) come to light.

Flora

In Homevale National Park, there are bright, grassy forest as well as rainforest, soft, dry scrub, eucalyptus forests and areas of Brigalow trees (Acacia harpophylla ).
