Eubenangee-Swamp-Nationalpark

The Eubenangee Swamp National Park (English: Eubenangee Swamp National Park ) is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland.

Location

It is located 1332 km northwest of Brisbane and 12 kilometers northwest of Innisfail, east of the Bruce Highway.

Provincial nature

The park consists of a low hill and the valley of the Alice River, built on nutrient-rich basalt surface. The lowland is usually completely flooded in the rainy season, but does not dry completely in the dry season. From the hill, you have a good overview of the swamp on one side and the mountains of the Bellenden Ker Range with the two highest peaks of Queensland, Mount Bartle Frere ( 1622 meters) and Mount Bellenden Ker ( 1593 meters).

Flora and Fauna

The remnants of tropical coastal rainforest that once grew throughout the area, the grassland and marsh Myrtenheiden make the park area a biosphere reserve of international importance.

Especially for water birds is the year-round water-filled swamp is an important habitat. The park is part of the Coastal Wet Tropics Important Bird Area, which was designated by BirdLife International because of its importance for the conservation of birds of the tropical coast rainforest.

Facilities

A 1.5 kilometer-long trail leads first at the Alice River and then along the flat hill.

Driveway

From the Bruce Highway (exit Mirriwinni ) turn east onto Bramston Beach Road. Just 1 km turn to the south, the Cartwright Road, which leads to the park entrance.
