Hasties-Swamp-Nationalpark

The Hasties Swamp National Park (English Hasties Swamp National Park ) is only 56.6 -acre national park in Queensland, Australia.

Location

The park is located in the Atherton Tablelands. It is located about 50 kilometers southwest of Cairns and 65 kilometers northeast of Innisfail. You can reach the park via the Atherton Herberton Road, which leads from the Kennedy Highway south of Atherton southwest. After about 4 miles down the access road branches off to the national park.

Fauna

The Hasties Swamps ( German: Hastiessümpfe ) are a mecca for bird lovers. The wetland provides a variety of both domestic as well as migratory birds a refuge. Seasonal fluctuations of water level change both the nature and size of the habitat, which in turn attracts many living creatures. More than 220 bird species have been counted in the wetlands and the surrounding woodland.

The best time is during the dry season from April to October, the water areas to be visited in the park by many water birds. Up to 1500 Spaltfußgänsen ( Anseranas semipalmata ) can then be seen by a two-story observation post at the same time.

Migratory birds like the sandpiper ( Actitis hypoleucos ) and the Japanbekassine ( Gallinago hardwickii ) raced here from August to September on their way from Japan to South Australia. From March to April, they return on their way to the north. From Siberia Spitzschwanz beach runners (Calidris acuminata ) is to escape the arctic winter. From New Guinea to visit for example the Regenbogenspint (Merops ornatus ), the Asian Koel ( Eudynamys scolopacea ) and the grimace Cuckoo ( Scythrops novaehollandiae ) the swamps.
