Narrien-Range-Nationalpark

The Narrien Range National Park (English Narrien Range National Park ) is a 74.6 square kilometer national park in Queensland, Australia.

Location

It is located about 790 kilometers north- west of Brisbane and 370 kilometers west of Rockhampton in the Fitzroy region. The nearest town is Clermont, from here you can reach the park via the Clermont Alpha Road and after about 40 kilometers further on the Pioneer Clydevale and Albro Pioneer Road. In the park there are no visitor facilities.

In the neighborhood of the National Park Epping Forest, Cudmore and Mazeppa are.

General

The park is located in the middle of the hills of Narrien range that extends to 13 kilometers in north-south direction. The 759 meters high summit of Mount Campoven wrestled the hills, visible from afar from the surrounding plains out. While the higher, inaccessible areas in the past have remained largely untouched, the surrounding flat lands were cleared and used for livestock. About 90 percent of US-based Brigalow Belt bioregion of North ecosystems have been destroyed since European settlement. The National Park protects six different plant and animal communities of this bioregion, which have been largely preserved in its original state.

Flora and Fauna

Particular worthy of protection are bushland, with " Lance Wood" - (Acacia shirleyi ) and " Bendee " - (Acacia catenulata ) scrub, and open woodland, with "Black Butts " (Eucalyptus cambageana ), "Mountain Yapunyah " (Eucalyptus thozetiana ) and a substructure of " Brigalow " (Acacia harpophylla ).

The park, with its diverse flora is also a habitat for many animal species. Here were counted four different frogs, 31 reptiles, 17 species of mammals and 101 species of birds. Were threatened or endangered with extinction while the cropping Milan ( Lophoictinia isura ), the letters Dove ( Geophaps scripta ), the Black-chinned - Honigschmecker ( Melithreptus gularis ), the dwarf Quoll ( Dasyurus hallucatus ) and the Yakka Skink ( Egernia rugosa ).

The eastern edge of the range of the red giant kangaroos extends to the Narrien Range National Park.
