Kondalilla-Nationalpark

The Kondalilla National Park (English: Kondalilla National Park ) is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of Queensland.

Location

It is located 91 km north of Brisbane and 10 kilometers south-west of Nambour on the western slope of the Blackall Range.

History

The settlers William Skene roamed this area in search for lost cattle. He called it Bon Accord and gave later the Government of Queensland. These renamed it in the 1950s in Kondalilla. This word means in the language of the local Aborigines ' Running Water '.

In 1906 the area was officially declared a protected area. 1945, there has been a National Park.

Flora

The park remains subtropical rainforest be protected. One finds groups of Piccabeen Palms ( Archontophoenix cunninghamiana ) Alphitonia, Guinea - Araucaria and Casuarina trees, as well as eucalyptus and rainforest. Here is the easternmost location of Queensland Araucaria.

The sensitive plant species Macadamia integrifolia is also growing in the park.

Fauna

Facilities

In the park there is a large picnic area with public toilets. Two trails lead to the Upper Falls Swimming Hole. A longer loop trail leads past the lower pool, which is not suitable for swimming. It is very exposed and can be hiked in about 2 hours.

The tents are not allowed in the park.

Driveway

The park is best of Flaxton, a settlement east of the park, out of reach. This settlement is located on the connecting road of Montville Mapleton after. This road leads over the ridge of the Blackall Range and is reported as a tourist road 23.
