Mount-Colosseum-Nationalpark

The Mount Colosseum National Park (English: Mount Colosseum National Park ) is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Queensland. It is located 370 km north-west of Brisbane, half ways between Gladstone and Bundaberg and 6 kilometers south of Miriam Vale.

Provincial nature

The Mount Colosseum is an old lava dome dominates the skyline of the area. Its summit rises up to 470 meters.

In the neighborhood of the National Park Dawes, Bulburin, Warro, Castle Tower and Eurimbula lie.

Flora

The peak of Mount Colosseum is sparsely covered with Guinea - Araucaria. On the lower slopes of the mountain is dry, subtropical rainforest, which also contains eucalyptus trees of the genera Ironbark and Bloodwood.

Facilities and access

The tents in the park is not permitted. There are no trails or other facilities for visitors. The visit is recommended only in the cooler months.

The park is located west of the Bruce Highway on the railway line from Bundaberg to Gladstone at settlement Makovata. You turn in Miriam Vale off the highway to the southeast, toward Seventeen Seventy and follow the road 6 km. At the junction, turn southwest and follow this road for another 5 miles to the park entrance.
