Hilda Solis

Hilda L. Solis ( born October 20, 1957 in Los Angeles, California) is an American politician (Democratic Party). She practices since February 24, 2009 from the Office of the Secretary of Labor in the Cabinet Obama. In January 2013, she announced her resignation. On March 18, 2013 U.S. President Barack Obama Thomas Perez has been nominated as her successor.

Solis was raised in La Puente as a third of seven children of a Nicaraguan and a Mexican. In 1981 she finished her studies in Public Administration at the University of Southern California with a Master.
