Anderson County (Kentucky)
The Anderson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lawrenceburg, which was named after William Lawrence, a local tavern owner.
Geography
The County is located just northeast of the geographical center of Kentucky and has an area of 529 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Anderson County was formed on 16 January 1827 former parts of Franklin County, Mercer County and Washington County. It was named after Richard C. Anderson (1788-1826), a former Members of the U.S. House of Representatives ( 1817-1821 ).
On October 26, 1859 and January 13, 1915, the court building was almost totally destroyed. But were destroyed only minor documents.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Anderson County 21.421 people in 8,214 households. The population density was 40.8 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 95.5 percent white, 2.0 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.2 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.3 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
In the 8,214 households lived statistically 2.54 per person.
25.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 62.6 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.0 percent were 65 years or older. 51.1 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was $ 51,486. The per capita income was $ 24,189. 11.0 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
