Leslie County, Kentucky

Leslie County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hyden, which was named after John Hyden, a Senator from Kentucky. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Kentucky, is in the southwest about 60 km from Tennessee, located in the southeast about 30 miles from Virginia and has an area of ​​1047 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Perry County, Harlan County, Bell County and Clay County.

History

Leslie County was formed on March 29, 1878 from parts of Clay County, Harlan County and Perry County. It was named after Governor Preston H. Leslie.
