Hickman County (Kentucky)

The Hickman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. In 2010, the County had 4902 inhabitants and a population density of 7.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Clinton. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme southwest of Kentucky, is bordered on the southwest by Tennessee, on the west by Missouri, separated by the Mississippi River and has an area of 655 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. History

The Hickman County was formed on December 19, 1821 as the 27th county in Kentucky from parts of Caldwell County and Livingston County. It was named after Captain Paschal Hickman, who was killed in 1813 at the Battle of River Raisin.
