James McKinney

James McKinney ( born April 14, 1852 in Oquawka, Illinois; † September 29, 1934 in Aledo, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1913 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James McKinney attended the public schools of his native land and from then until 1874, the Monmouth College. Between 1892 and 1907 he was president of the Aledo bank in the same city. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1896 and 1900 he took part in the regional party days of the Republicans in Illinois as a delegate. After that, he was from 1901 to 1902 Member of the railroad and warehouse commission (State railroad and warehouse commission ) of his state. From 1902 to 1903 he headed the education committee of the city Aledo.

After the death of Mr Benjamin F. Marsh McKinney was at the due election for the 14th seat from Illinois as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on November 7, 1905. After two re- elections he could remain until March 3, 1913 at the Congress. In 1912 he abandoned a bid again.

In the years 1908 and 1909 was James McKinney chairman of the Illinois State Bankers' Association. His main job was working in Aledo in the mortgage industry. In this city he is on 29 September 1934, died.
