Zeno J. Rives

Zeno John Rives (* February 22, 1874 in Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana, † September 2, 1939 in Decatur, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In the year 1880 Zeno Rives moved with his parents to Litchfield, Illinois, where he attended the public schools. After a subsequent law degree in 1901 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Litchfield to work in this profession. In 1903 he was hired as City Clerk at the local municipal government. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the midterm elections of 1904 Rives was the 21st electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Ben F. Caldwell on March 4, 1907. Since he has not been confirmed in 1906, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1907.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Rives again practiced as a lawyer in Litchfield. Between 1912 and 1916 he was there and post holder. Since 1919 he lived in Decatur, where he was continuing to make as a lawyer. He also went into the real estate business. He died on September 2, 1939 in Decatur.
