Mike Quigley (politician)

Michael " Mike" Quigley ( born October 17, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is an American legal scholar, politician of the Democratic Party and, since 2009 member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Illinois.

Biography

After attending school at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream (Illinois ), he studied first at Roosevelt University and acquired in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A subsequent post-graduate studies at the University of Chicago, he graduated in 1985 with a Master of Public Policy (MPP ). Finally, he finished another post-graduate studies in law at Loyola University Chicago in 1989 with a Juris Doctor ( JD).

After subsequent activities as a professor, lawyer and consultant in the legislative process, he was from 1998 to 2009 Member of the Legislative Assembly ( Board of Commissioners ) of Cook County.

Following the appointment of Rahm Emanuel for chief of staff of the White House, he was elected in a by-election as his successor, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represents there since 7 April 2009 5th Congressional District of Illinois. Quigley is currently a member of the Judiciary Committee ( House Committee on the Judiciary ) and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
