Lewis L. Boyer

Lewis Leonard Boyer ( born May 19, 1886 a member Richfield, Adams County, Illinois, † March 12, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1937 and 1939 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Lewis Boyer attended the public schools of his home. Between 1904 and 1915 he worked in various cities of his homeland as a teacher. At the same time, he studied civil engineering. Since 1915 he lived in Quincy. Between 1915 and 1936 he led the Highways Agency in Adams County. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1936, Boyer was in the 15th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of J. Leroy Adair on January 3, 1937. Since he has not been confirmed in 1938, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1939. At this time there more New Deal legislation of the Federal Government were adopted under President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

In the years 1940 and 1942 Lewis Boyer ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in each of Illinois. He died on March 12, 1944 in Quincy.
