Jerry Weller

Gerald C. "Jerry" Weller (* July 7, 1957 in Streator, Illinois) is an American politician. Between 1995 and 2009 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jerry Weller attended the Dwight High School until 1975 and then until 1976, the Joliet Junior College in Romeoville. This was followed up in 1979 to study at the University of Illinois. In the years 1980 and 1981, Weller was in the service of Congressman Tom Corcoran. After that, he worked for the Ministry of Agriculture of Illinois. From 1981 to 1985 he also worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. From 1988 to 1994 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Illinois. He was founder and chairman of the Republican youth organization Grundy County Young Republicans.

In the congressional elections of 1994, Weller was in the eleventh electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat George E. Sang Master on January 3, 1995. After six re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2009, seven legislative sessions. In his time as a congressman of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, the Iraq war and the military mission in Afghanistan fell. In the meantime, he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and in two of its subcommittees. In 2008 he gave up another candidacy.

In the years 2006 and 2007, Weller was because of the controversial land purchases and related financial inconsistencies in Nicaragua in the headlines. The Chicago Tribune reported that Weller had provided incorrect information about the size of the piece of land.

Weller is married to Zury Ríos Montt, Guatemalan dictator daughter of former Efrain Rios Montt ..
