Julius Goldzier

Julius Goldzier ( born January 20, 1854 in Vienna, Austria, † January 20, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Julius Goldzier attended the public schools of his native Austria. In 1866 he arrived in the state of New York. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began in 1872 to work in Chicago in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1890 and 1892 he was a member of the City Council of Chicago.

In the congressional elections of 1892 gold trim in the fourth electoral district of Illinois was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Walter C. Newberry on March 4, 1925. Since he has not been confirmed in 1894, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1895. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives practiced Goldzier again as a lawyer. He died on January 20, 1925, his 71st birthday, in Chicago, where he was also buried.
