Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr. ( born March 11, 1965 in Greenville, South Carolina ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He was from 1995 to 2012 member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Illinois.

Biography

The son of civil rights leader and later Democratic presidential candidate Jesse Jackson studied post-school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and in 1987 earned a Bachelor of Science (BS ). A subsequent post-graduate studies in theology at the Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS ), he graduated in 1989 with a Master of Arts (MA ) from. Another post-graduate studies in law at the College of Law at the University of Chicago, he eventually ended 1993 with a Juris Doctor ( JD).

After that, he began his political career as secretary of the meeting of African Americans ( Black Caucus ) of the Democratic National Committee. He was also a 1993-1995 project founded by his father Rainbow Coalition ( Rainbow Coalition), whose member he is just as PUSH (People United To Serve Humanity ), an 1971, also founded by his father organization.

Following the resignation of the former deputies Mel Reynolds 1995, he was first elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represented there by 12 December 1995 to 21 November 2012, the second congressional district of Illinois. In August 2013 he and his wife were sentenced to prison terms. Together, they have embezzled $ 750,000 in campaign donations for personal use. Among the issues were fur coats, stays in Disneyland and especially memorabilia of Bruce Lee and Michael Jackson. Jesse Jackson, was sentenced to 30 months in his wife to 12 months in prison. In order to pay costs and damages finally acquired with embezzled funds items were auctioned.
