Luis Gutiérrez

Luís Vicente Gutiérrez ( born December 10, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He represents the fourth congressional election since 1993 District of Illinois in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Gutierrez attended Northeastern Illinois University and then worked as a teacher and social worker. In addition, he was a member of the Chicago Board of Aldermen before he entered the House of Representatives. Since he is Puerto Rican descent, he supported various organizations working for the promotion of Puerto Rico. Gutiérrez has secured the support of a broad spectrum of citizens of Chicago.

Although he is only interested in running, Gutiérrez announced in November 2006 that he would not run for mayor of Chicago in 2007.
