Peter Roskam

Peter James Roskam (* September 13, 1961 in Hinsdale, DuPage County, Illinois ) is an American politician of the Republican Party and, since 2007 Member of the House of Representatives of the United States.

Biography

After completion of the Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn in 1979, he studied at the Catholic University of America and then at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, which he finished in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). After that, he was interim employees on the staff of Congressman Tom DeLay of Texas from 1985 to 1986 and 1986-1987 by Henry Hyde of Illinois as well as teachers and entrepreneurs. A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Chicago -Kent College of Law, he graduated in 1989 with a Juris Doctor ( JD ) from. After his subsequent admission as a lawyer (Illinois State Bar Association ), he became a partner of the law firm Salvi, Roskam & Maher.

His political career began as the Republican candidate in 1993 with the first election to the House of Representatives of Illinois, where he served for three terms of office until 1999. In 1998 he wrote his first unsuccessful against Judy Biggert for nomination as a candidate for election to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 13th Congressional District of Illinois. He then became a member of the Illinois Senate and belonged to this from 2000 to 2007.

In the election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, he was elected to the 6th Congressional District of Illinois as a successor to the incumbent since 1974 and not again Henry Hyde candidates for deputies. He was able to win with 51.4 percent against his Democratic counterpart candidate Tammy Duckworth, who received 48.6 % of the vote.
