Chatham County (Georgia)

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Georgia, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and the North East to South Carolina. It has an area of ​​1638 square kilometers, of which 503 square kilometers of water are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Bryan County and Effingham County.

History

Chatham County was formed as the third county in Georgia from the Christ Church Parish and part of St. Phillip 's Parish on 5 February 1777. It was named after the British Prime Minister William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham.
