Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme northwest of Georgia, bordered to the north and Tennessee to the west by Alabama. It has an area of ​​1158 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Catoosa County, Whitfield County, Gordon County and Chattooga County.

History

Walker County was formed on December 18, 1833 as 99th County of Georgia from parts of Cherokee County. It was named after Major Freeman Walker, a lawyer and U.S. senator.
