Dade County (Georgia)

The Dade County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Trenton, named after the town in New Jersey.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme north-west, bounded on the north by Tennessee and to the west by Alabama. It has an area of 451 square kilometers, has no appreciable water surface and is bounded on the southeast by the Walker County.

History

Dade County was formed as a 91 County in Georgia from parts of Walker County on December 25, 1837. It was named after Francis Langhorne Dade of Virginia, a major who was killed in 1835 fighting with the Seminoles.

The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 96.0 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.
