McIntosh County (Georgia)

The McIntosh County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Darien, named after Fort Darien.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Georgia, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of ​​1488 square kilometers, of which 365 square kilometers of water are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Liberty County, Glynn County, Wayne County and Long County.

History

McIntosh County was formed on December 19, 1793 17 County of Georgia from portions of Liberty County. It was named after the McIntosh clan who first explored this area.
