Crawford County (Georgia)

The Crawford County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Knoxville.

Geography

The County is located about 40 kilometers north-west of the geographic center of Georgia and has an area of 846 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Monroe County, Bibb County, Peach County, Taylor County and Upson County.

History

Crawford County was formed on December 9, 1822 55 County of Georgia from Indian Country and parts of Houston County. Later parts of Macon County and Talbot County were added. It was named for William H. Crawford, the former U.S. Treasury Secretary.
