Worth County (Georgia)

The Worth County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sylvester.

Geography

The County is located in south-central Georgia, is located in the south about 80 miles from Florida's northern border and has an area of ​​1488 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Crisp County, Turner County, Tift County, Colquitt County, Mitchell County, Dougherty County and Lee County.

History

Worth County was formed on December 20, 1853 from parts of Dooly County and Irwin County. It was named for General William J. Worth, who fought in the Tex- Mexican War.
