Coweta County, Georgia
The Coweta County is located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Newnan, which was named after Daniel Newnan, a general in the great Indian war of 1812.
Geography
The County is located in the central north-west, 40 km to the west from Alabama and has an area of 1155 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Fulton County, Fayette County, Spalding County, Meriwether County, Troup County, Heard County and Carroll County.
History
Coweta County was formed on June 9, 1825 67 County of Georgia. It was named for the Coweta Indians, a branch of the Creek Indians.

According to the census in 2000 lived in the Coweta County 89 215 people in 31 442 households, and 24,713 families. The population density was 78 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 78.86 percent White, 17.97 percent Black or African American, 0.23 percent Native American, 0.68 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.22 percent from other races groups; 1.02 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.14 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 31 442 households out of which 39.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.5 percent were married couples living together, 12.2 percent were single mothers and 21.4 percent were non-families. 17.6 percent of all households and 5.7 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.17 persons.
28.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.6 percent between 18 to 24, 33.4 percent between 25 and 44, 21.8 percent between 45 and 64 and 8.5 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males.
The median income for a household was $ 52,706, and the median income for a family $ 58,750. Males have a median income of $ 41,369, women $ 27,322. The per capita income was $ 21,949. 6.1 percent of families and 7.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
