Colquitt County, Georgia
The Colquitt County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Moultrie.
Geography
The County is located in southern Georgia, is located approximately 40 miles from Florida's northern border in the south and has an area of 1441 square kilometers, of which eleven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Worth County, Tift County, Cook County, Brooks County, Thomas County and Mitchell County.
History
Colquitt County was formed in February 1856. It was named after Walter T. Colquitt, a general, preachers and politicians.

According to the census of 2000, there were 42.053 people in Colquitt County. Of these, 1,265 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 15,495 households and 11,063 families. The population density was 29 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 67.78 percent White, 23.47 percent Black or African American, 0.29 percent Native American, 0.25 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 7.05 percent from other races groups; 1.12 percent were descended from two or more races. 10.83 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 15,495 households out of which 34.6 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.0 percent were married couples living together, 15.5 percent were single mothers and 28.6 percent were non-families. 24.9 percent of all households and 11.2 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.12 persons.
27.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 10.3 percent between 18 to 24, 28.0 percent between 25 and 44, 21.4 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.9 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males.
The median income for a household was $ 28,539, and the median income for a family $ 34,792. Males had a median income of $ 26,588, women $ 20,155. The per capita income was $ 14,457. 16.1 percent of families and 19.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
