The list of cities in Belgium provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities and towns of the state of Belgium. Listed is a complete list of all 589 municipalities in the country in alphabetical order.

Municipalities by population

By far the largest agglomeration in Belgium is the Brussels -Capital Region, with a population of 1,031,215 (as of 1 January 2007).

The following table provides the municipalities with more than 30,000 inhabitants, as well as the results of the official estimate of the State Statistical Office in Belgium for 1984, 2000 and 2007 (each January 1st). Listed is also the region and province to which the municipality belongs. The 19 municipalities of the Brussels Capital Region, next to Flanders and Wallonia one of the three regions of the country belong to any province ( Political System of Belgium). The population figures refer to the community in its political boundaries, without politically independent suburbs.
