El Paso County (Texas)

Geography

The County is located on the westernmost point of Texas and is bordered on the north by New Mexico and the Southwest from Mexico. The border with Mexico is from El Paso to the Rio Grande, which rises in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and flows through New Mexico. History

El Paso County was formed in 1848 from parts of Santa Fe County. It was named after a crossing of the Rio Grande.
